As of 2025, it remains a robust solution for small to mid-sized process applications, with the latest Freelance 2024 update enhancing its digitalization and security features. Core ComponentsThe system architecture is divided into the Operator Level (HMI) and the Process Level (Controllers and I/O).

• Security Updates: ABB provides validated Microsoft security patches and antivirus definition files (McAfee/Symantec) for the Freelance system.
